Wise Crack

4ft.x3ft. 2012, Acrylic, Elmer's Glue, India ink, on Canvas
Wise Crack manifested himself in the dream world of the artist. In the dream, the artist walked along a shadowy embankment and suddenly came upon the sleeping owl. The owl squinted as he opened his eyes and remarked, “Who are you that disturbs our slumber?” Startled, the artist could not say who she was or where she was going. Awakening, the artist still did not have an answer.

Cut Cake

4ft.x3ft. 2012, Acrylic, Elmer's Glue, India ink, on Canvas

Cut Cake was developed following an experience at the Oregon Country Fair in Eugene, Oregon. Cut Cake is the roller derby alter ego of the artist and a symbol for maintaining a positive image of the body, a difficult task for men, women and (increasingly) children, in our over-saturated culture. Cut Cake asks the viewer to reconsider how they view themselves and others. Cut Cake bares resemblance to the artist through the scar on her right cheek.

Silly Cloud

2ft.x3ft. 2012, Acrylic, Elmer's Glue, India ink, on Canvas
Silly Cloud represents feelings of failure and depression, which overcome artists, musicians, and other trades people who are often overexerted and under appreciated in society today. The stage make-up worn by Silly Cloud represents his feelings of exploitation as an entertainer. Silly Cloud asks, “Am I where I need to be?” and “Am I doing what I am destined to do?”

Sassafras Sea Glass and other Classy Trash (Available)

I am a traveler. In 2006, I moved to Ireland and spent 6 months exploring western Europe. Since my return to the United States, I have continued the habit of seeking out new and exciting places. This summer, I found myself bound for the western lands of my home country.

Over a span of 2 months, I explored the gnarled coastlines and sandy shores of two remote corners of the western United States and Mexico. From secret beaches in the San Juan Islands*, to deserted tide pools in Mexico, I pulled sea glass and other treasures. The pieces I found are far too beautiful to keep in a lonely display case. I believe they must be shared and adorned. So, I have made them into wearable art pieces for my beloved community.

To the left you will find a photo archive of the pieces I have created using my findings, both those that have already been shared with others and those that are still available for you!
